Your exclusive contributions to the WASH sector in Nepal especially in scaling up SLTS approach across country, supporting to develop Chitwan a model district in sanitation, organizing Bagmati Shanti Mahotsav and seeking the commitments of the parliament members to position water supply and sanitation as a constitutional rights, mark the International Year of Sanitation 2008 for added advocacy and mileage on sanitation, formulating Sanitation and Hygiene Master Plan, and implementing Global Sanitation Fund in Nepal are some of the milestones. The cumulative impacts of these initiatives have paved the way to make Nepal an ODF Nation and highlight its presence in the global area. These remarkable footprints are permanently carved in the heart of the WASH professional. I worked closely with you to materialize these noble country initiatives. So, I proudly say I am one of its close witnesses.
Friendly nature, simplicity, cooperative attitudes, and cheerful appearance are indeed the hallmarks of a true professional. One may question how a globally acclaimed professional can be so simple and friendly. BUT you possess all these virtues and many more.

What stands out most is the human capital. A new generation of sanitation champions now leads with courage and compassion, inspired by leadership that values people as much as progress. I say this based on my engagement yesterday in the Ministry of Water Supply organized sector stakeholders’ workshop on Implementation Assessment of WASH Resolutions and Action Planning. Across the world — and in Nepal in particular — communities are experiencing the tangible difference: stronger institutions, a renewed policy, legal and regulatory framework, and the officers and professionals equipped to create a better sanitation future.
Through visionary leadership at the Gates Foundation, ambition became action, innovation became policy, and ideas became human progress. For those of us privileged to walk part of this journey, it has been profoundly transformative — a reminder that true leadership uplifts people and inspires change that sustains.
